Tnank you for your guide to solve the problem.
System File Checker (SFC /scannow) did not show any anomalies, but the diagnostics for the Ethernet still reported an unplugged or broken cable.
I then went to Acer's support side, downloaded an updated version of the Realtek driver, run the repair option and everything's running like it should.
Anyway your guide helped me to solve the problem. Thank you.
Peter

Hello,
I have the same issue with my Acer Aspire E15. No 'integrity violations' were found from the scan. I already had an automatic update recently, and the problem still exists.
(I followed the original poster's comment of going to 'Acer's support side, downloaded an updated version of the Realtek driver' and there was no change.)
Please advise.
